For main card in Macao against China’s Tiequan Zhang

(PXC) – Pacific X-treme Combat, the premier mixed martial arts organization in the Asia-Pacific region, is proud to support yet another PXC fighter making the move to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the world’s top MMA organization.

PXC lightweight star Jon Tuck has been signed by UFC and will make his debut on Nov. 10 in Macau on the main card against China’s Tiequan Zhang. Tuck trains with Universal Alliance and SPIKE 22/Ground Fu in Guam, as well as The Arena in San Diego, and has made a name for himself as an Abu Dhabi Champion, as well as featured fighter on The Ultimate Fighter reality show earlier this year.

“We are excited for Jon and wish him the best in his UFC career. We knew he was being watched closely, and we promise to give all other PXC stars the same opportunity to gain exposure against the best in the Asia-Pacific. PXC has a growing list of young talent who will climb the rankings, and it is a gift to our fans to put together great shows featuring the region’s elite fighters,” added PXC CEO E.J. Calvo.

Tuck has competed in PXC events since 2007 and holds a professional record of 6-0. In 2009, Tuck recorded a win against Filipino MMA fighter Edward Folayang with a vicious knockout in less than 10 seconds.

Although battling several minor injuries over the last few months, Tuck showcased his knockout power with his performance against up-and-coming, Filipino-American fighter Tristan Aranel (5-2) last November in PXC 28, which was nationally televised in the Philippines. According to PXC VP Eli Monge, “Jon has all-around MMA skills that make him a special fighter. He can beat you in so many ways!”

Fans were recently disappointed when Jon Tuck was forced to pull out of a title fight against PXC lightweight champ Harris Sarmiento, set for Sept. 1 in PXC 33 in Manila. In November, Tuck will be facing UFC fighter “The Mongolian Wolf” Tiequan Zhang (1-2 in UFC bouts, 18-3 overall), and will represent his island home of Guam as the first UFC fighter hailing from the U.S. territory located a short three hours flight time from China.

Tuck joins Hyun Gyu Lim from South Korea as the most recent PXC fighters to be signed by UFC. PXC has featured UFC talent including Dan Severn, Jeremy Horn, Roy Nelson, Rich Clementi and Eddie Yagin throughout its 33 professional events. Calvo stated, “PXC fighters are certainly representative of the best MMA talent in Asia, including Guam’s Joe Taimanglo, Hawaii’s Harris Sarmiento, Crisanto Pitpitungue, Ale Cali, and Mark Striegl from the Philippines, and Filipino-Americans Tristan Arenal and Alvin Cacdac.

The only question is: Who will be the next PXC star to be signed by UFC?”
