THE nonprofit group ACAS, together with GuamBasketball.com and Tamuning Typhoons Youth Basketball Club, present its second annual cultural and sports exchange day at the UOG Field House today with 200 students from Wasegaku High School in Japan.
The morning session includes a meet-and-greet session by local students followed with a presentation by the Wasegaku students of their culture.
“It will be a hands-on experience for our local students as they participate in the booths set up by the Wasegaku students to showcase the different aspects of their culture,” stated event coordinator Elsa Ulloa.
She added a fiesta lunch plate will be served to the guests with performances by Tao Tao Lagu Dance Group and local talent SGAL.
The afternoon session includes sports with mini-friendship games for futsol and basketball along with Chamorro dance and weaving class sessions.
The event is being held today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is sure to be a success with the collaboration and support of the local students attending.
“We are representing Guam’s youth to our guests and want them to have a great time while they are here,” said event staff Dominic Sablan, who will oversee the sporting activities.
