THE Latte Spring League has seen some great games, including two 1-hitters, a no-hitter, and now a triple play.
The Agat Cardinals held on to a close game against Team Guahan Soldiers, turning a 4-6-2 triple play to take the 5-3 win and improve to 3-1 on the season.
Dan Salas paced the Cardinal offense going 2-2 with a sac bunt. Geremiah Pecina picked up the win for the Cardinals coming into the game in the second inning to shut down the Soldiers’ rally and throw 4-2/3 innings, allowing only two earned runs and striking out three.
Soldiers starter Zach Sablan picked up the loss in a good outing, going five innings and allowing only one earned run as the Soldiers’ defense committed six errors on the night.
Soldiers catcher Justin Perez also turned in a good game, going 1-2 with an RBI and picking up three runners off base, including an impressive throw to second base in the fifth inning to help slow down the Cardinals’ rally.
But in the end, a sluggish offense with only three hits and untimely errors cost the Soldiers as they lost their first game of the season.
