6 voters kick off in-office absentee voting

IN-OFFICE absentee voting has begun with six voters and will continue until Aug. 31. Sample ballots are posted at the Guam Election Commission office for viewing.

A potential 4,000 voters will participate in the in-office absentee voting. The primary election is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1. At this election, voters can only vote for candidates in the same party.

The for-profit bingo initiative will also be on the ballot.

According to GEC, voters who are eligible for in-office absentee voting are those who cannot vote on the set date due to the conduct of business or due to other necessary travel, illness or physical disability, service in the armed forces or merchant marine, employment with GovGuam, attendance at an institution of learning, employment in the service of the U.S. government or any federal agency, or the accompanying of a spouse who is engaged in these listed activities.
