MAJORITY Leader Sen. Rory J. Respicio is asking for confirmation with the Banking and Insurance Commissioner on whether Guam’s health insurance companies are following the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
Respicio mentioned in a letter to Art Ilagan, who runs the Department of Revenue and Taxation’s regulatory division, that he was especially concerned about coverage “for pregnancies for dependents.”
In his letter, the senator said that under Obamacare, the extension of coverage for dependents up to age 26 includes pregnancies.
“Our community has a long established pro-life policy that encourages bringing pregnancies to full term,” Respicio wrote. “Indeed, whenever possible, we should make it easier for pregnant women to give birth rather than resorting to the termination of a pregnancy.”
