THE Variety has learned that one of four people charged in federal court with falsifying overtime records at the Department of Public Works Solid Waste Division is still on the job.
Danilo Galiza was reportedly only given a letter of reprimand.
Federal receiver spokesman David Manning said he couldn’t get into the details since it is a personnel matter but stressed the incidents occurred before the federal receiver came into the picture.
“The prosecutors in this case reached an agreement with Mr. Galiza and we don’t see it as the responsibility of the receiver to impose additional penalties on him. They have reached an agreement and we have indicated to Mr. Galiza that we expect his strict adherence to that,” he said. “We believe that the action we have taken in this matter is appropriate. It’s a good deal more complex from the outside looking in.”
Manning further stated Galiza has been an excellent employee with the Solid Waste Authority, adding there had been an effort in the past to discipline him and others involved on the part of the government of Guam. But this has been withdrawn.
Meanwhile, Galiza, Liberty Perez, Josephine Torres and Ariel Evarola are scheduled to appear in the District Court of Guam this afternoon at 4 p.m.
