TESTIMONY will be heard this morning on resolutions dealing with the Challenger Deep and the Department of Defense’s master plan on the military realignment.
Resolution 405-31 seeks to encourage the accurate location of the deepest area in the world and attribute it to create awareness of Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Micronesia as well as secure potential economic benefits for the region.
Resolution 408-31 requests that Guam be included as a full member of the Mariana Monument Advisory Council to encourage and promote “the accurate description of the location of the Challenger Deep within the Mariana Trench.”
The third item on the agenda, Resolution No. 458-31, asks Secretary of the Department of Defense Leon E. Panetta to answer requests by the U.S. Senate to provide a master plan for the military buildup in Guam.
The hearing for the resolutions will start at 10 a.m. in the public hearing room and can be seen live on MCV Channel 13 and GudTV Channel 21.
