A MALE traveler who arrived from a Hong Kong flight early yesterday morning died at the A.B. Won Pat International Airport.
The man, who was an unaccompanied traveler in transit to a connecting Honolulu flight, collapsed while waiting to clear in customs, airport officials confirmed.
According to Guam International Airport Authority spokesperson Rolenda Faasuamalie, rescue personnel responded to the incident but were unable to revive the man.
“First-response procedures were taken by the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Unit and the Guam Fire Department,” she stated. “Efforts were taken to revive him and bring him back to consciousness. Such efforts were unsuccessful.”
Medics transported the man to Guam Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 6:27 a.m. According to GMH Nursing Supervisor Cely Mangrobang, the man was 69 years old.
