AS PART of today’s Fourth of July celebration, there will be a parachute demonstration at 6 p.m. over the grounds of the Liberation Carnival in Tiyan.
The 68th Guam Liberation Executive Committee has granted retired U.S. Army Maj. Eutemio “Tim” Ohno, a member of the Northwest Special Operations Parachute Team, permission to conduct a parachute demonstration in which he will be flying over the carnival grounds with the U.S. and Guam flags trailing behind.
According to a press release from the Liberation Committee, Ohno will be exiting a Cessna 172 piloted by Albert Dilks of Freedom Air from approximately 5,000 feet, falling at the rate of 120 mph. At 3,000 feet he will deploy his main chute and land at the designated landing zone.
Ohno was born on Guam and hails from Pohnpei. He has more than 3,500 jumps on record and is currently a self-defense instructor at the Naval Base and Andersen Air Force Base. Assisting in the jump are Kakoa Tydingco and Caplen Weare.
