DOZENS of electronic items ranging from Apple iPods, to cameras, to household appliances were seized during a police raid of a couple’s Dededo home on Tuesday after federal authorities executed a search warrant in connection with an investigation of a retail theft at the Base Exchange store in Andersen Air Force Base.
Authorities entered the home of Chad C. Andresen and wife Dawn Joy Andresen and seized 29 items of evidence, including iPods, an iPhone, a laptop, digital cameras, a crock pot, a wet/dry vacuum, silverware, and other retail boxed items.
According to a report filed in the District Court of Guam by an Air Force Office of Special Investigations special agent, the alleged theft occurred between May and early June after Chad Andresen, an employee at the Base Exchange, was observed on video footage a number of times taking iPod devices and an iPad from their respective storage cabinets.
According to the report, Chad Andresen allegedly moved the store cameras so they would not be facing the electronic section where the iPods were stored, but failed to move one camera that focused on the cabinet where the iPads were stored.
After the items were allegedly stolen, Dawn Joy Andresen was observed selling new, unopened iPods on a Facebook group page called “Guam Grabs,” using her maiden name, Gumataotao.
Federal authorities conducted a controlled evidence buy on May 22 and were able to purchase two iPods from Dawn Joy Andresen. It was discovered that the iPods were part of the missing inventory from the Andersen BX.
“Both serial numbers from the iPods matched serial numbers from the inventory listing, indicating they were both taken from the AAFES BX,” the investigative report stated.
Based on a review of the BX inventory listing provided on May 31, there were a total of 51 missing iPod Touch devices and one missing iPod Nano.
Meanwhile, on the same date, it was observed that Dawn Joy Andresen posted five new items for sale on the Guam Grabs Facebook page, again using her maiden name. The electronic items were reportedly sold at the Base Exchange as well.
Neither of the suspects has been charged in federal court as of yesterday.
