FOR those looking to party hardy this weekend: keep it safe and have a designated driver – the Guam Police Department’s Highway Patrol Division will be setting up checkpoints throughout the island.
The DUI checkpoints will go up tonight and tomorrow night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
There are no specific locations as to where the checkpoints will be set up.
However, GPD says its officers, police reservists and CAPE volunteers will conduct them along Route 1 (from the front gate of Naval Base Guam to the front gate of Andersen Air Force Base); Route 4 (Hagåtña traffic intersection up towards Sinajaña and down south towards Umatac); Route 8 (Maite up towards the tri-intersection traffic light in Barrigada); Route 10 (Barrigada from the tri-intersection traffic light towards Mangilao and then Chalan Pågo ending at the Route 4/10 traffic intersection); Route 14 (Tamuning at the ITC traffic intersection to Tumon along San Vitores Road); and Route 16 (Harmon from the Micronesia Mall up past the Guam Main Facility and Guam Army Readiness Center to the tri-intersection traffic light in Barrigada).
GPD would again like to remind everyone to follow the posted speed limits, leave early, and anticipate traffic when heading out to functions.
