JOHN F. Kennedy High School will get a new guardhouse soon, thanks to the efforts of the University of the Philippines Alumni-Guam, a registered nonprofit organization composed of graduates from the prestigious state university, an institution that takes pride in academic excellence and outstanding community and public service.

Aside from the JFK guardhouse, the organization will be fundraising for a project that will enhance facility accessibility at the UP Bahay ng Alumni, a convention center in the main campus built from the fundraising initiatives of UP graduates.

The organization hopes to leave a lasting legacy in honor of the jubilee year of the University of the Philippines, which will occur on June 23.

This coming Sunday, June 17, Sen. Rory J. Respicio will lead the induction ceremonies of officers and board of trustees at the “View” Marriott Hotel, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Philippine Consul-General Bayani V. Mangibin, an alumnus of the university, will be the guest speaker.

According to incoming President Tessie Bagtas-Marcos, the organization will explore ways to embark on other collaborative projects such as research and academic tie-ups with the University of Guam and community-based forums with the Philippine Consulate in Hagåtña.

For those who wish to attend the event or support any of the organization’s projects, contact Tessie Marcos at 689-1142 or Edna Rebanal at 688-8458.
