THE father of a toddler left inside a stolen sports utility vehicle may be facing charges.
According to GPD spokesman Sgt. Mike Aguon, authorities are looking into why the child was left alone inside the vehicle in the first place.
Surveillance footage of the time when the vehicle was at the gas station is now under review by the Guam Police Department.
The incident was reported at around 12:48 a.m. Monday at the 76/Circle K gas station along Ypao Road and Route 1.
A man informed police he went inside the convenience store and when he came back out, he saw his Nissan Pathfinder being driven off.
The SUV was seen parking along Sgt. David Camacho Street near Cost-U-Less. The driver went outside, then got back in and drove off. Witnesses at the scene then went to the place where the driver parked and found the 2-year-old toddler in a grassy area, unharmed.
GPD is continuing its investigation of the case. Anyone with information about the incident and/or the suspect is asked to call GPD at 472-8911 or Guam Crime Stoppers at 477-HELP (4357).
