Iyaz concert and autograph signing

IYAZ performed to a modest crowd at his one-day only concert Wednesday night at the UOG Field House. The performance was his first stop on his Asia tour.

The benefit of having an intimate concert was that fans were able to walk right up to the stage to be nearer to the artist and a few lucky young fans were invited to dance onstage by Iyaz himself.

Fans also got the chance to take pictures with him and get his autograph at an autograph signing earlier in the day at the Docomo Pacific Outlet in Agana Shopping Center.

Angela Camacho, 20, had been a fan of Iyaz since high school. The Okkodo alumnus brought her yearbook for him to sign. “I thought it would be a good memory,” Camacho states.

“Don’t let anyone tell you no. Just keep hitting them with the music. Market yourself on the Internet, because it’s free,” Iyaz encouraged aspiring artists.

The doors were open at 6 p.m. and opening acts performed at 7 p.m. The main act hit the stage at 8 p.m. with the hit “Solo.” The opening acts included performances by the local dance group Skip, the Latte Stone Soldiers, and other local performers.

The artist is best known for his hit singles “Replay,” “Solo,” and “Pretty Girls.” He also appeared on the Disney television show “Hannah Montana” and the movie “Hannah Montana Forever.”
