GOVGUAM employees are being asked to share their opinions with regard to their healthcare insurance policy for Fiscal Year 2013. Surveys are being distributed by GovGuam’s Health Negotiating Team.
Participants are asked to submit their views to their respective divisions’ Health Negotiating Team representative by June 29.
The survey is part of efforts being made by Sen. Dennis Rodriguez, the health committee chairman, to avoid mistakes made in healthcare planning last year. The purpose of the data collection is to present the best interests of government of Guam employees, retirees and dependents.
“The astronomical jump in premium cost to our people with the FY2011 government of Guam health plan was irresponsible and unjust. To ensure the mistakes of the past do not happen again, I saw fit to include policymakers to sit as participants to the health insurance process,” Rodriguez said.
The senator is referring to Public Law 31-24, which he authored. This law requires the heads of the Legislature’s health and appropriations committees to participate in the Health Negotiating Team in order to allow more transparency.
“It is critical that all the members of the team, including Sen. (Ben) Pangelinan and myself as ex-officio members, hear from our people so that we could collectively work in the best interest of the employees, retirees, dependents and the entire community,” Rodriquez stated.
Surveys can be emailed to Rodriguez at senator[at]toduguam.com; mailed to 176 Serenu Avenue, Suite 107, Tamuning Guam; faxed to 649 0520; or submitted here.
