THE University of Guam Endowment Foundation and the Micronesian Chefs Association held its 10th annual Celebrity Chef’s Cup Wednesday evening at the Hyatt Regency Guam with Table 35 Restaurant’s Chris Aguon impressing the judges with his hot appetizer course of “Tabaka Roasted Duck Breast.”

Aguon was awarded the Chef’s Cup, which is a traveling trophy that stays with the winner or their establishment for a year.

This year’s Celebrity Chef’s Cup was themed “From Russia with Love.” Aguon’s dish consisted of a slow-roasted Russian-style duck breast served over a parsnip puree, wilted arugula, and vodka-fois gras cream sauce that ultimately scored the highest points with the event judge, UOG Endowment Foundation announced in a press release.

Proa Restaurant’s Geoffrey Perez won the “People’s Choice Award” for his “Cold-Smoked Duo of Lobster and Scallops with Russian Salmon Caviar.”

Meanwhile, Westin Resort’s Daniel Lenherr and his celebrity team members Vince Mafnas, Frank Whitman, Martin Leon Guerrero, and Maj. Michelle Limtiaco won the award for “Best Video” which featured a well-coordinated and fun spy-themed narrative where a “top secret” recipe is delivered to the chef in a steel briefcase.
