ONE of the island’s mammography facilities recently passed a certification inspection process administered by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Guam Radiology Consultants’ Digital Mammography Department received a perfect score and met the federal standards set for mammography equipment, personnel, and practices under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).
GRC’s Rick Schnitzer said they are the only medical practice on Guam that has state-of-the-art digital mammography.
“We had the inspection and we had zero violations. This means quality assurance, everything. FDA analyzed everything and we had no violations,” Schnitzer explained.
According to GRC’s press release, digital mammography is shown to “provide improved accuracy over the older film-based imaging and also is more comfortable because it reduces the pressure required to capture accurate images.”
GRC is the only clinic on-island to be accredited by the American College of Radiology in Digital Mammography, Adult and Pediatric CT, MRI, Breast MRI and has been awarded the “Image Gently” designation in recognition of the Pediatric CT accreditation, according to the press release.
