TOMORROW from 2 to 7 p.m., canine caregivers and their human companions will be heading to the Governor’s Complex in Adelup for the island’s first “Bark for Life.”

Organized by the American Cancer Society, the event will help honor the companionship and support canine friends bring to cancer survivors, according to Tina Noket of ACS.

“The event also offers the opportunity for folks to fight cancer and do it together with their canine friends,” Noket added.

Human companions get in free but their canine friends have to be registered before they can participate in any of the activities. Each registered dog receives a “Bark for Life” bandanna.

Noket encourages everyone, including non-dog owners, to head down to Adelup on Saturday.

“If you don’t have any dogs, you’re still welcome to come down and watch the demonstrations and perhaps see the dogs that come out and participate in the different games and activities that we will have with the different vendors and the booths,” Noket said.

Among the highlights of the event are the canine demonstrations from Customs and Quarantine as well as the airport K9 unit.

“If they have any questions, there will be a dog trainer, dog services, and pet-sitting services onsite,” Noket said.
