FARMERS and producers from Guam and other territories can now avail of a special program from the Farm Service Agency that will partially fund the costs of transporting agricultural products or inputs used to produce an agricultural commodity.
According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Reimbursement Transportation Cost Payment program for geographically disadvantaged farms and ranchers (RTCP) will partially fund expenditures incurred by farmers for transporting their products or inputs over long distances.
Those who qualify for the program, according to the news release, include farmers and ranchers in Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Republic of Palau.
Interested farmers and ranchers from eligible locations may file their applications from July 23 to Sept. 10.
