FOR one day, St. John’s School student Andrew Sulla-Matthews learned the ropes of leading the entire island as Youth Governor.
Jace Ryan Santos, an 8th-grader from St. Anthony School, was also assigned as Youth Lt. Governor.
According to a press release from the Guam Department of Youth Affairs, Sulla-Matthews and Santos were selected as Youth Governor and Youth Lt. Governor, respectively, after leading the oratorical contest held last February.
As Youth Governor, Sulla-Matthews attended an official event with Gov. Eddie Calvo yesterday at Government House: a proclamation signing for Foster Care Awareness Month.
Sulla-Matthews said he finds the experience of leading the island “interesting.” As Youth Governor, he added, he is "learning more about politics and about how the government works.”
