ASPIRING young entrepreneurs or those who have just started their business in less than a year are highly urged to participate in the “Next Generation of Entrepreneurs” 2012 Business Plan Competition, hosted by the University of Guam’s Small Business Development Center.

The competition is open to individuals 18 to 30 years old. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in the competition, starting at $1,000 for third place, $2,000 for second place, and $4,000 for first place. The prize money may be used to jumpstart one’s business or for any other purpose, UOG stated in a press release.

The deadline for individuals or groups to submit a completed application is May 31. They must then develop and turn in a completed viable business plan by Aug. 31.

“Individuals or teams must attend four required training courses in June, and will receive free and confidential counseling from SBDC counselors,” UOG stated in a press release. “Finally, all contestants will present their plans in a public forum at UOG to be reviewed by a panel of judges.”

Prizes will be awarded on Sept 28.

Applications and competition guidelines are available at the Guam SBDC Room 148 located at the Leon Guerrero School of Business and Public Administration Building.

For more information, call Guam SBDC at 735-2590 or Frank Toves, project coordinator, at 735-2592, or email frank[at]pacificsbdc.com.
