A GUAM Department of Education special education school bus was involved in an accident yesterday morning after it was struck by a sedan.
Guam Fire Department spokesman Lt. Ed Artero said the accident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. Two students were treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the sedan was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital for treatment. However, a nursing supervisor said the driver, identified as a male, has left the hospital.
GDOE Deputy Superintendent Robert Malay was at the scene and said there are four students who ride the bus to Simon Sanchez High School.
Upon arrival, Malay asked the bus driver if he was okay and also if the students were hurt. The bus driver informed Malay he was not harmed and that the students appeared to be fine.
According to Malay, the bus was in the middle of the Marine Corps Drive intersection and was making a left turn to Wusstig Road when it was struck on the front end by the sedan.
“From what I was told, the car who collided with the bus would have had to run a red light in order for that accident to occur,” Malay said.
There were no arrests or citations issued in connection with the accident.
