POLICE have arrested a 24-year-old Yigo man in connection with Sunday night’s double stabbing that left one man dead and another injured.

Twency Luku appeared in court yesterday afternoon and was charged with murder as a first degree felony with a special allegation of possession and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.

He also faces charges of aggravated assault as a second degree felony with a special allegation of possession and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony, and attempted murder as a first degree felony with a special allegation of possession and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.

Luku is currently being held on $150,000 cash bail. His magistrate hearing continues today after a request was made for an interpreter.

Court documents reveal that on Sunday evening, officers arrived on-scene at Chalan Padiron Haya where they found 23-year-old Fonuk Anderson lying on his back with a stab wound to his chest and another to his back. Anderson was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. Officers also found 27-year-old Carlos Kosam along the roadway of Chalan Okso Familian Fanatanon. Kosam had stab wounds on his back.

One of the officers interviewed a man named Avin Manaki who informed police that Luku stabbed the two men. Luku was located at his aunt’s home and was advised of his rights. Luku allowed officers to search the restroom where he left clothes he wore earlier and officers found a T-shirt with human blood. Luku also showed one of the officers the knife he used to stab Kosam and Anderson.

Luku was interviewed and said he got into a disagreement with Anderson and that Anderson got a tire iron wrench from his vehicle and threw it at Luku. Court documents state Anderson attacked Luku and a scuffle ensued.

“Twency pulled his knife and stabbed Anderson twice,” court documents state. Luku then ran westbound on Route 15 and came upon two men sitting in the corner of a roadway drinking, including Kosam and someone who Luku had never met before.

Luku reportedly was still enraged by what happened earlier and asked Kosam and the other man where they were from. The men said they were from Chuuk and Luku “proceeded to attack the men.” After stabbing Kosam, Luku went to his aunt’s home and took a shower.

After an autopsy was performed, Medical Examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola said Anderson died after he was stabbed in the chest, with the knife going straight to his heart. Espinola said Anderson was also stabbed in the back and arm, but the wounds were superficial.
