THE Guam Symphony Society announced they will be presenting the 2012 Young Artists Competition Winners Concert this Saturday at the University of Guam CLASS Lecture Hall auditorium.

The concert will feature the 10 winners of this year’s Young Artists Competition, a music competition held last month. Thirty-one young musicians participated in three divisions – elementary, junior and senior.

The following 10 winners will reprise their performances of the classical music pieces they had played at the competition:

  • Elementary Division: 1st – Haram Kim, 10; 2nd – Amy Seo, 11; 3rd – Charles Reed.
  • Junior Division: 1st – Bella Moon, 13; 2nd – Maranatha Hennegan, 14; 3rd – Cloency Zuriel Chua, of Saipan, 14.
  • Senior Division: 1st – Kyung Jae Lee, 17; 2nd – Jong Seok Lee, 16; 3rd – (tie) Shana Yang, 15, and Ha Eun Kim.

The concert program will also feature the Guam Symphony Orchestra chamber group performing Sergei Prokofiev’s Overture on Hebrew Themes, Op. 34.

Ticket prices for the Young Artists Competition Winners Concert are $15 in advance and $18 at the door for adults; $12 in advance and $15 at the door for active duty military personnel; and $10 in advance and $12 at the door for students in high school and below.

Tickets may be purchased at the  Brown Bag Café in Tamuning; Dragon Locksmith at the Micronesia Mall; Faith Bookstore in Maite; and Salon Paradis in Hagåtña.
