The other senators let Sen. Pangelinan do the heavy-lifting on these types of issues, just as he, Senator Ben, did the heavy-lifting for the COLA bonds, the first time around, despite the naysayers, which included then Sen. Calvo and Pete Sgro, Jr., who said that those bonds would not sell in that fashion (check legislative transcripts). It is true that some senators are intimidated because Gov. Calvo has the media, most of them anyway, in his back-pocket, sort of how Silvio Beriusconi, former PM of Italy, had had also during his tenure. The concentration of media power is a major concern in the States, and I think this is true, here as well. Similarly, on the military build-up issue, the reason why only Democrats were mentioned as the "chief obstacles" by former JGPO lead person, Jackson, was again, because the Republicans "let" the Democrats, at least some, do the heavy-lifting. The reason? Republicans want to take credit for something that works, with help from the media, of course, and want to avoid taking blame for anything, with help from the media, again, of course. Finally, the reason why Republicans oppose the minimum wage, outright, in some cases, is for more or less the same reason. They do not "believe" that consumer spending is the reason for job creation, not job creation itself, due to the 'escape velocity' driver. Which is why they, the Republicans, do better, economically, data show, when Democrats are in power.

Hmmm. DOE will run out of money in August 2012. Calvo's SelectCare's refund to GG is due in August 2012. Guess who is going to save DOE in August 2012? Hint: It won't be Ben Pangelinan.

Where are the rest of the senators? It seems Senator Ben is the only check and balance we have. These hard questions need to be asked but alas the other democrats just look the other way because they either they are intimidated by Calvo or just looking out for number one and be damned with the the people.
